LB Raekwom McMillan of Hinesville, GA will be at Clemson for the Florida State weekend for his official visit. He was at Clemson earlier in the season for the Georgia game and he’s looking at the official visit as an important step in his decision making process. “I’ve liked Clemson for a long time,” McMillan said. “This (the visit) will dictate whether they are going to lock me in. I know everything about Clemson. I just want to see if the can pull out this big game, and I’m going to have a good time.” McMillan has done his scouting of Clemson’s linebackers and the work of defensive coordinator Brent Venables who just happens to coach the linebackers. “I like the way he attacks with linebackers and blitzes off the edge,” he said. McMillan has taken an official visit to Georgia. He goes to Ohio State October 25th, Alabama November 8th and Florida November 30th. “My top five are all recruited me hard,” said McMillan adding that he doesn’t have any separation among his schools. He plans to announce his decision in December or at the Under Armour Game. He will enroll in January. This season McMillan has 85 tackles and 5 sacks and his team is 6-0.
Clemson has loaded up on rangy receivers in recent years and the Tigers are after another in Juval Mollette (6-4 186) of Randelman, NC. The Tigers have offered and recruiter Robbie Caldwell recently was by the school to check in. “He said they’d love for me to come to the school and he invited me to the Florida State game,” said Mollette who plans to be at Death Valley for that game. He was at Clemson last season for the NC State game and already has a positive feel for the place. “I like Clemson, I’ve always liked Clemson growing up. I like their offense, they throw it a lot. They run the spread offense like we do in high school.” Mollette was at Virginia Tech this past weekend. He’s also been to USC, NC State, North Carolina and Virginia. USC has not offered but he has offers from the other schools he’s visited along with Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Duke and East Carolina. Mollette does not have a favorite and plans a decision in his senior year. He has 5 touchdown catches so far this season.
DL Cory Thomas of McCalla, AL visited Tennessee over the weekend and now calls the Vols his favorite. He’s also considering Clemson, Florida State, Mississippi State and Florida.
6-7 Dante Buford of Jacksonville, FL was scheduled to visit Oklahoma over the weekend but because his ACT score had not been posted, he didn’t make the trip according to his coach Rex Morgan. He will reschedule that visit. Morgan said the score should be posted this week and Buford will go on his trip to Miami. And he will visit USC November 1st. Morgan said Buford no longer is considering Southern Cal and Oklahoma State and will only that the three visits. USC coach Frank Martin visited Buford last week and will be back on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. “South Carolina certainly, if not in the lead, is right there,” Morgan said. “I think it will go with how the visits go.” Miami coaches will be in to see Buford on Wednesday.
Catcher Jared Martin of Chattahoochee Valley JC in Phenix City, AL committed to USC Sunday. Martin visited USC over the weekend. He also visited Georgia last month. The Atlanta native batted .354 with 3 home runs and 45 RBIs last season. Defensively Martin committed just 1 error and threw out 9 of 17 runners attempting to steal. Martin gives the Gamecocks 14 pledges in the 2014 class.
