The USC basketball team began practice Monday morning under the watchful eye of second year head coach Frank Martin. The Gamecocks are coming off a 14-18 season that included just 4 SEC victories.
The Gamecocks have gone thru an almost complete roster makeover. Only five recruited players return and that includes Bruce Ellington who won’t join the team until the football regular season is over.
There are 8 new players and one new face on the coaching staff. Veteran coach Perry Clark was hired to replace Brad Underwood after he left for Stephen F. Austin.
Brenton Williams is the leading returning scorer at 11 points per game and Micheal Carrera is the top returning rebounder at 7.2 boards per game.
The Gamecocks have about a month before their play USC Aiken in an exhibition game November 3rd. They will open the season at home November 9th against Longwood.
