The theme for Clemson’s offense all week leading up to the Wake Forest game had less to do with Xs and Os and more about smiles and laughter. Offensive coordinator Chad Morris felt his unit, from quarterback Tajh Boyd on down, wasn’t having enough fun. He saw a group that pressed in the NC State game, so in the days leading up to Saturday, Morris insisted his guys relax and let the game come to them.
They had a ball Saturday, at Wake Forest’s expense. The Tigers rolled up 573 yards. They had scoring plays of 75 and 64 yards. They ran 83 plays, converted 8 of 17 third downs and 3 of 4 fourth downs. And they were six of six scoring touchdowns in the red zone.
All of that seems to have put the Good Ship Morris back on its proper course heading into this week’s game at Syracuse.
