After rolling up over 200 yards in the first quarter, the Clemson offense cooled off considerably and was forced to punt on three straight possessions from the latter part of the first quarter and into the second quarter. The Tigers got back on track midway thru the second quarter with a 67 yard drive. On fourth and goal from the Wake Forest one, Boyd pushed his way into the end zone having to jump twice for the goal line before getting in. Clemson 28-7.
The Tigers were able to put one more score up on the board before the half. Starting with 2:00 to play, the Tigers moved quickly down the field 0n a 72 yard drive. Boyd bound freshman Mike Williams in the end zone and the former Lake Marion star made a sliding catch for his first career touchdown catch. Clemson 35-7.
The Tigers had 361 yards in the half. Boyd passed for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns.
