Every Wednesday former Newberry head football coach Zak Willis joins us on the show to break down what took place the previous weekend on the gridiron, especially the action taking place here within the state.
Clemson had the week off Saturday, but the Gamecocks were still playing football. USC hosted Vanderbilt at Williams-Brice Stadium over the weekend, beating the Commodores 35-25. USC had a blowout lined up early on, but made fans hold on tight until the final minutes ticked off. Coach Willis assists us on what we should take away from the game in Columbia.
Clemson will make the trip to Raleigh, North Carolina Thursday night to take on NC State. Clemson’s last visit to Carter-Finley Stadium didn’t go so well. The Tigers, who were ranked 7th in the country at the time, were blown out by the Wolfpack 37-13 thanks to 4 turnovers. Coach Willis sheds light on this brand of NC football, now guided by former Northern Illinois head coach Dave Doeren.
