The calendar is an obvious indicator that kickoff for the 2013 college football season is almost upon us. For us here at SportsTalk we know the gridiron is really baring down once we take our act on the road for our annual “Palmetto Pigskin Tour”. Tonight was opening night of the tour and, per usual, we kicked things off in Orangeburg as we took an in-depth look at the S.C. State Bulldog program.
First up on the docket, Phi Kornblut sat down with the leader of the Bulldog program, head coach Buddy Pough, to recount the 2012 campaign in which the Bulldogs finished a substandard 5-6, including losses at FBS programs Arizona and Texas A&M in weeks 3 and 4. Pough also looked ahead to the upcoming season by updating us on the progress of his personnel on both sides of the ball, and what he hopes to see from his units.
Next up Korn got to chat with two of the returning Bulldogs who hope to improve things on the field this season. Quarterback Richard Cue represented the offensive side of the ball, and let us in on what he expects from his unit as the signal caller. Joining Cue in the interview was linebacker Joe Thomas who gladly talked a little D with us.
