DB Chris Lammons of Fort Lauderdale, FL Monday announced a commitment to Florida over Tennessee and USC. Lammons made the announcement on ESPNU. Lammons visited USC last month and there were reports he wanted to commit to USC at that time, but the Gamecocks didn’t know if they had room for another cornerback. USC later told Lammons they could take him but he did not immediately jump on that opportunity. And after further reflection, he chose the home state Gators. Lammons plays quarterback in high school but is seen as a cornerback for college.
Lammons’ close friend, DB Quincy Wilson of Fort Lauderdale, is also announcing Monday and USC is on his short list as well, but the Gamecocks aren’t believed to be a strong player for him. Florida appears the favorite over Ohio State, Notre Dame and Southern Cal.
Clemson DE target Rick Leonard plans to announce his decision Tuesday. He is down to the Tigers and Florida State and the decision could go either way.
And Friday WR Terry Googer of Atlanta will announce his decision from among USC, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Miami. Googer played quarterback last season and had 2600 yards of offense. At 6-4, 210, some envision him as a tight end in college. He visited USC last month and the Gamecocks have been strong with him ever since.
Wando OL Nolan Kelleher was seeking that perfect fit for him of engineering and football, and he believes he has found that at Florida. Kelleher committed to the Gators Saturday over Clemson and Tennessee. Kelleher met with his family and some of his coaches Saturday to work out the final decision. “Their engineering department is right there beside the stadium and that hit home with him,” Wando coach Jimmy Noonan said. “He had a great, great visit down there.” Kelleher has been a dominating lineman for Wando and Noonan expects him to have a successful career with the Gators. “I really think he projects to play guard and he can maybe end up playing on Sunday’s,” Noonan said. “He’s big and strong and I think his athleticism has improved every year. He’s a dedicated young man and has a bright future ahead of him.” Kelleher will graduate in December and enroll at Florida in January.
Gaffney RB Hyleck Foster has committed to Marshall according to coach Dan Jones.
DL Terrell Bush (6-2 290) of Tuscaloosa, AL visited Furman over the weekend and later committed to the Paladins. He also has offers from Appalachian State, Murray State, Jacksonville State and South Alabama.
DE Jessie Aniebonam of Olney, MD has a final five of Clemson, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame. He plans to announce his decision August 23rd.
LB Raekwon McMillan of Hinesville, GA has set up his five official visits for the fall. He’s got Georgia September 27th, Clemson October 18th, Ohio State October 26th, Alabama November 8th and Florida November 29th.
Junior OL George Brown of Cincinnati plans to make an unofficial visit to Clemson for a game September 28th. He also plans to go to games at Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Auburn and Vanderbilt.
