Rising junior DB Kaleb Chalmers (5-11 170) of Greenwood has offers from Clemson, USC, Duke, North Carolina and Stanford with interest from several schools to include Georgia. “I’ve been getting a lot of letters from different schools,” said Chalmers. “Georgia is the only camp I went to from schools that haven’t offered.” Chalmers attended the Black Magic camp at USC and attended camps at Clemson and North Carolina with a visit to Duke. “I like the environment and the atmosphere (at USC) and it’s close to home,” he said. “And we’ve had a couple of players from our school go there.” He has talked to former Greenwood Eagle and USC Gamecock DJ Swearinger, but not about recruiting. “He just showed me certain drills I can do to work on my footwork…and stuff like that,” said Chalmers. “We really didn’t talk about anything else.” Chalmers’s sentiments of Clemson are very similar to how he sees the Gamecocks. “It’s about the same,” he said. “It’s close to home and I like the atmosphere up there. Their coaches aren’t pressuring me or anything like that. They just tell me to keep my grades up and they like how I play smart.” Chalmers will attend the Clemson-Georgia game in Week One and has not scheduled any other visits beyond that. He does not have any favorites.
ATH Stanton Truitt of Monroe, GA recently committed to Auburn choosing the Tigers over USC, Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Kansas State among others. “I feel pretty good about my decision and right now I want to focus on my upcoming season,” said Stanton. “I just felt pretty good about their offense and how I would fit into their system.” Truitt acknowledged that he has not heard from USC since making his decision but understands why. “I think they’re respecting my decision to go to Auburn,” he said. Truitt has not ruled out the possibility of taking future visits to other schools, including USC, but is unsure of those plans right now. “I want to talk to my coach before I make a decision like that,” said Truitt. “It’s a possibility (that I do take other visits).”
