USC football coach Steve Spurrier was back in Columbia Thursday for his annual golf outing with the media at Cobblestone Park in Blythewood. After the fun and games on the course, Spurrier addressed the media and spent a few minutes answering questions.
Following the presser, USC sports information director Steve Fink informed those who asked that the USC compliance office had cleared defensive end Jadeveon Clowney of any issues regarding contact with agent Jay Z.
USC determined that there was no impermissible conversations and Clowney did not receive any impermissible benefits. A report earlier in the week stated that Clowney and Jay Z had been in regular conversations regarding his future representation. Those conversations are permissible by the NCAA as long as no agreement is reached and no inducements are involved.
The Gamecocks report for camp next Thursday with their first practice August 2nd at 7:15 PM. The first week of practice will be open to the public.
