Coming off back to back 11 win seasons, the USC players who came thru SEC Media Days Tuesday walked and talked with an air of confidence. DE Jadeveon Clowney, QB Connor Shaw and WR Bruce Ellington expressed their feelings that the Gamecocks won’t take a back seat to anyone in the league this season.
Clowney was the day’s rock star, followed everywhere by cameras and reporters. He kept the media mob on their toes with one liners, a Steve Spurrier impersonation, and challenging words for quarterbacks Tajh Boyd of Clemson, Aaron Murray of Georgia and Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M.
Clowney will be on the move again Wednesday as he heads to Los Angeles for the ESPY Awards. His hit on Michigan running back Vincent Smith in the Outback Bowl is up for play of the year.
