DE Rick Leonard of Middletown, MD will visit Florida State this week for about three or four days and will then make his decision between Clemson and the Seminoles. Leonard’s father went to Florida State and will join him on the trip. He will participate in FSU”s one day camp while there. He camped at Clemson last month. Leonard’s teammate OL Justin Falcinelli has committed to Clemson. Leonard plans to make his decision about a week after this visit.
WR Terry Googer of Atlanta made an unofficial visit to USC Friday, the latest in a series of visits with the Gamecocks over the past year. “It was a good visit,” Googer said. “It was cool and laid back. I liked it.” USC, Miami, North Carolina and Ole Miss are the other schools Googer has been considering. He now plans to announce a decision August 12th with a ceremony at his school.
DE Taylor Stallworth of Mobile, AL has USC #1 on his list right now ahead of Auburn and Mississippi State. The Gamecocks and Bulldogs have offered and he’s optimistic the Tigers will when he visits there next weekend. Before that he will make a return trip to Starkville Friday. He was there last month for a camp. And he will be at USC’s Black Magic Camp later this month. Stallworth plans to talk Monday with Gamecock recruiter Kirk Botkin. “They are excited about me coming up there and showing me around campus,” Stallworth said. He did not talk with any coaches last week. Stallworth, who had 57 tackles and 4 sacks last season, plans to make his decision before his school starts August 20th.
DE Michael Preddy of Porter-Gaud made an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech Friday and later committed to the Yellow Jackets. He announced his pledge on Twitter. Preddy also had offers from Wake Forest, Louisville and Charlotte. Last season he had 94 tackles and 16 sacks.
6-4 Makayla Johnson of Dreher Saturday night announced a commitment to Clemson for the 2014 class on Twitter. Johnson is ranked by ESPN HoopGurlz as the #48 prospect in the 2014 class. She’s the second commitment for the Lady Tigers’ 2014 class.
