OL Nolan Kelleher of Wando has nearly 30 offers but only eight remain under consideration. Wando coach Jimmy Noonan said Kelleher has cut his list to USC, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and NC State. Kelleher visited Clemson last weekend. “He said it was a great visit up there,” Noonan said. “He’s also been to Tennessee, and he really liked his visit there. He’ll visit USC the first part of July and he’ll visit Florida in July as well.” Kelleher has also visited Florida State. “He wants to make sure,” his coach said. “He’s going to get it down to two to three early in the season.” Noonan said Kelleher will attend some games and hopes to have his decision in the early part of the season. There is no favorite. “He’s taking an honest look at everyone,” Noonan said. The engineering program at each school is a key factor with Kelleher whose father is a nuclear engineer.
DB Jalen Tabor of the District of Columbia has narrowed is his list down to “eight to ten” schools and named USC as one of them. “I don’t want to say the list because I’m scared I’ll leave one or two off,” Tabor admitted. “I can say that South Carolina is definitely one of my top eight.” Tabor said he feels comfortable with what the Gamecocks can offer saying, “I mean it’s SEC football, you know? It’s a competitive league and (USC) is a good school. It’s somewhere I feel like I can go in and play and compete for a job.” Tabor has maintained contact with the USC coaching staff and says they want him to visit. He plans to visit several Southern schools including USC. Some of the other schools he mentioned he would like to visit include Alabama, Vanderbilt and Florida. His offers include USC, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Maryland and West Virginia among others. He does not have a favorite.
DL Cory Thomas (6-6 270) of McCalla, AL plans to visit Clemson next month. The Tigers have offered and Thomas is showing interest in the program. “I really like them but I need to get up there and meet the coaching staff,” said Thomas. “They’re like D-Line University. They put out a lot of defensive linemen out. I just need to get up there and look more into it.” Thomas has several offers with his latest coming from Alabama. “I just went there for a camp and came left with an offer,” he said. The Crimson Tide are among his early favorites. He named Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State and Tennessee in no order. All have offered. His visit to Clemson is not set in stone but he would like to visit in July. “I talk to coach (Marion) Hobby on facebook here and there but I just got to go up there for a visit,” he added. Thomas would like to make a commitment towards the end of his senior season but plans to take all five official visits prior to announcing a decision. He did not name the schools he plans to visit nor did he name a favorite.
ATH TJ Harrell (6-0 215) of Tampa has 37 offers with neither of those from Clemson or USC. That could change as Harrell recently camped in the Upstate and says he was told my Clemson coaches that they could offer soon. “I talked to coach (Tony) Elliott and he liked my speed when I worked out with him,” said Harrell. “He just told me that he really liked the way I play but that they would have to figure out where I would play once I got on campus…so that’s really what’s holding them up (with an offer). Harrell enjoyed visiting Clemson and liked the campus. “It’s a forest,” he laughed. “It’s definitely a forest and I love the new indoor practice facilities they have. I’ll get a better feel for Clemson once I go up there for a game.” His offers include Mississippi State, Florida, Florida State, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, NC State, Ole Miss, Indiana, Kentucky, Boston College, Duke and Georgia. He does not have any favorites.
WR Shakenneth Williams (6-2 195) of Macon, GA attended a camp at USC last Saturday and walked away impressed. Though the Gamecocks have not offered, Williams would love to hear from USC. “It went good,” said Williams. “Me and my coach had been talking about getting up there for a camp so we went. I liked everything I saw. They gave us a tour of the campus and they were breaking down how everything works there. I would be very interested if they offered.” His current offers include Vanderbilt, Georgia,, Ole Miss. Mississippi State, Central Florida, Indiana, Old Dominion, South Alabama and Georgia State. He named Georgia, Vandy, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Central Florida as his favorites. Williams has visited UGA and Vandy and he plans to visit the other three schools on his top five list though he has not scheduled any of those trips to date. He did not give a time frame for a commitment.
DB John Battle of Hallandale, FL will announce his college decision Friday at 5:00 PM. He’s down to USC, LSU, Tennessee, Southern Cal, South Florida, NC State and Louisville. He plans to release the decision via SFHS Sports, a website that covers Dade and Broward counties.
WR Artavis Scott of Tarpon Springs, FL plans to announce his decision early next week at The Opening. He’s down to Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and Central Florida.
WR Adonis Jennings of Sicklerville, NJ committed to Rutgers. Clemson was one of his other finalists.
