Clemson has announced that the home radio booth at Memorial Stadium will be named after former Tigers broadcaster Jim Philips. Philips was the voice of the Tigers from 1968 to his death in 2003.
Philips called games for what seemed like every major athletic event at the university. During his career, he broadcast football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball. During the 1998-99 academic year, Philips covered all of these sports, becoming the only ACC broadcaster to cover four sports at the same time.
He broadcast over 2000 Clemson sporting events during his career, and missed just one home men’s basketball game during that time.
