The super-regional battle of the Carolina’s has been plagued by an arbiter this postseason and her name is Mother Nature. The USC Gamecocks and top ranked Tar Heels of UNC have had rain interfere with their series for the second time now.
The Tar Heels took a 6-5 victory in game one on Saturday, which was originally scheduled for Friday. The Gamecocks bounced back in game 2 on Sunday, with an 8-0 victory thanks to a dominate performance from lefty Jordan Montgomery. The series tie was scheduled to be broken in game 3 on Monday, but the inclement weather has forced another postponement until noon on Tuesday with a trip to Omaha hanging in the balance.
USC pitching coach Jerry Meyers joined SportsTalk tonight to talk about the second impromptu day off of the series, how it affects both teams, and how he plans to use his arms in tomorrow’s game.
