It came down to a sudden death playoff between the last two second place finishers at the 2013 Palmetto Amateur. Nicholas Reach, 21, defeated Scott Strohmeyer with a birdie on the second playoff hole.
Reach, who just completed his sophomore season at the University of Georgia, shot a final round 68 to tie Strohmeyer at the end of regulation at five under par. Strohmeyer, 23, just completed his senior year at the National Champion University of Alabama. He also finished second in the Palmetto Amateur in 2009 and 2012. Reach lost in a playoff in 2011.
Both players bogeyed the first playoff hole, the sixteenth. Strohmeyer missed his birdie putt at seventeen, setting up the winning putt by Reach for birdie.
Ben Fogler, of Elgin, SC, finished third at four under par. Second round leader Sam Love shot a final round 72 to finish fourth at 3 over.
The 2013 Palmetto Amateur was shortened to 54 holes due to heavy rains on Friday.
