Former Myrtle Beach quarterback Everett Golson, who emerged as Notre Dame’s starting quarterback in the Irish’s run to the national championship game last season, is no longer enrolled at the school the Chicago Tribune reported Saturday night. Two sources told The Tribune an academic violation is the reason Golson is no longer at the school.
Golson passed for over 2045 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 298 yards and 6 touchdowns last season.
Golson was one of the nation’s top recruits following a record breaking career at Myrtle Bach. He originally committed to North Carolina to play football and basketball but switched to Notre Dame after visiting South Bend. Clemson made a late run at Golson but he did not give the Tigers or USC much consideration during the recruiting process.
If Golson left Notre Dame because of an academic violation, by NCAA rules he would not be able to receive a scholarship next season.
