Friday afternoon Phil Kornblut sat down with USC Athletic Director, Ray Tanner, to talk about all things concerning Gamecock athletics.
In part one of Korn’s interview with Tanner, they delved right into the new television deal between ESPN and the SEC. Tanner provided his thoughts concerning what the new deal brings to the table for USC, and the league as a a whole. Tanner also provided his thoughts on Texas A&M’s expansion of Kyle Field, and how season tickets are going for the upcoming football season in Columbia. He talks potential league expansion in the future, and the new playoff formula for college football. Finally, he gets Tanner’s perspective on where he gauges the fanbase’s mood concerning athletics as a whole in the capital city.
In part 2 of Korn’s sitdown with Tanner they discuss head football coach Steve Spurrier’s future with the program. Finally, he couldn’t let Ray Tanner go without getting his thoughts on his replacement as the leader of the baseball team, head coach Chad Holbrook, with tournament play just around the corner.
