USC lefty Jack Wynkoop had the best performance of his young career Sunday and on Monday the SEC recognized him for that effort.
Wyncoop was named the league’s Freshman of the Week. He pitched a career high eight innings and allowed just one unearned run a 3-1 win over Kentucky. The Wildcats managed nine hits on Wyncoop, but could never scratch through for an earned run. Wynkoop struck out three and didn’t walk a batter.
Sunday was Wynkoop’s s first win over an SEC team (three career starts). This season he is 5-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 12 games. He appears to have solidified himself as the Sunday starter in the weekend rotation behind Nolan Belcher and Jordan Montgomery.
This weekend USC has a series at #2 ranked LSU.
