South Carolina stretched its winning streak over North Carolina to four in the boy’s game of the Carolinas All Star Classic with a 99-90 victory Saturday night at Myrtle Beach High School. North Carolina now leads in the overall series 10-6.
Hartsville point guard Jaylen Shaw was named the MVP for South Carolina. He had 23 points hitting 10-19 from the floor. He had 7 assists and 3 steals. Tashombe Riley of Orangeburg-Wilkinson led all scorers in the game with 26 points. He was 10-14 from the floor including 4-5 on three pointers. Matthew Howard of AC Flora added 14 points and 8 rebounds and Justin McKie of Irmo had 12 points.
Isaiah Hicks was North Caroliona’s MVP with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
In the girl’s game, North Carolina snapped a three game losing streak in the series with a 76-67 overtime victory. South Carolina let the lead slip away late in regulation and did not score in overtime.
Naomi Moore of CE Murray led SC with 23 points including six three pointers and was named the MVP for her team. USC bound Alaina Coates of Dutch Fork had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.
J’Kyra Brown of Rocky Mount led NC with 19 points and was named her team’s MVP.
North Carolina now leads the series 11-5.
