Deandre “Nuk” Hopkins wrapped up his junior campaign at Clemson with a bang in the Chicfila Bowl on New Years Eve, catching 13 balls for 191 yards and two scores, helping Clemson get a huge victory over the Bayou Bengals of LSU.
His big night on New Years Eve set his totals on the year the year to 1,405 yards on 82 catches, and he found the endzone 18 times. Those gaudy numbers, and the huge nightcap in 2012, are what made Hopkins turn to Twitter on January 10th to announce that he had decided to forego his final year of eligibility and enter his name into April’s NFL draft.
Nuk has always had a reserved personality, rarely dealt with the media during his career, and had yet to speak to reporters since his big decision two months ago. That changed today when Hopkins sat down with reporters to talk about the jump to the next level.
