Saturday NC State left a boat load of runners on base in a loss to Clemson. Sunday the Tigers returned the favor stranding 10 in a 4-1 loss. 13 of those runners reached scoring position. The Tigers also had two runners thrown out at the plate and another cut down attempting to steal third.
Scott Firth took the loss for Clemson after working 6.2 innings. His record drops to 2-2.
Shane Kennedy and Maleeke Gibson led the Clemson offense with two hits each.
The Wolfpack broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth and added a pair of insurance runs in the 8th to improve their record to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 9-5 and 2-1.
The Tigers return to action Wednesday afternoon at home against Charleston Southern.
