Miami is the ACC regular season champion after a 62-49 win over Clemson Saturday afternoon in Coral Cables. The Hurricanes finish at 15-3 in the ACC and 24-6 overall and will be the #1 seed in next week’s tournament in Greensboro.
Clemson suffered its sixth straight loss. The Tigers are 13-17 and 5-13 in the ACC. The highest Clemson can be seeded for the tournament is tenth. The 13 wins are the fewest for Clemson in the regular season since the 2004 team won 10 games. And the 5 ACC wins are the fewest since 2005.
The teams played to a 25-25 tie in the first half. The Hurricanes opened the second half with a 13-3 run to take command. The Tigers didn’t score for nearly the first five minutes of the second half. They would get no closer than six points the rest of the way.
Jordan Roper led Clemson with 12 points and Devin Booker added 11. Miami’s Kenny Kadji led all scorers with 23 points.
