A bill that would eliminate the authority of the South Carolina High School League and create a new governing body passed through committee today and is now on the House floor.
The bill would require all public schools to enter a new league that would be governed by the state Board of Education. The bill passed through committee by a count of 12-6. If passed by the House, the bill would then move to the state Senate.
