DE Kendal Vickers (6-3 225) of Havelock, NC said Wednesday night he still has a shot to qualify for a USC scholarship this year based on his academic progress this semester. Vickers did not sign an LOI Wednesday and understands that USC is holding a spot for him should he qualify. “Right now I need two A’s and 2 B’s to qualify,” Vickers said. “I got all As last semester and I’m planning on getting all A’s this semester.” Vickers is also planning to retake the ACT in hopes of improving that score. Vickers said if he fails to qualify he will enroll in a prep school with plans on going to USC in January.
Wednesday night Spring Valley junior linebacker Christian Miller felt it was best not to talk about his recruiting publicly not wanting to get caught up in the media frenzy that overcomes so many recruits. But Thursday Miller did disclose where he stood with things including a top four. Miller was offered Wednesday by Alabama game Nick Saban. He recently visited Tuscaloosa for a junior day. He plans to visit Florida State February 15th and Florida the next day. Miller said he was never contacted by USC about its recent junior day and only heard from Clemson on the Monday before its recent junior day, so he couldn’t make plans to get there. Miller said he has a top four of Florida, Alabama, Florida State and Georgia. North Carolina, he said, has also been showing a lot of interest. He’d like to make a decision sometime in March or in early spring.
DL Naquez Pringle of Carvers Bay attended USC’s junior day and took the opportunity to experience some things he hadn’t on earlier visits. “It was something different than before,” he said. “The new (DL) coach is there. I liked him. from the time I me him. He seems like he’s ready to start his career at South Carolina.” Pringle also spent time with his recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. “He just loved me to death,” he said. “He walked up on me one time and punched me in the back.” Pringle also spoke briefly with Steve Spurrier. USC and Clemson remain his two offers and he plans to visit Clemson for its next junior day. He also wants to visit LSU. Pringle said USC and Clemson remain on top for him with no favorite.
RB Dorrell Scott of Havelock, NC has had USC out front for some time and the Gamecocks continue to lead for his services. Scott attended a junior day at USC this past Saturday where he had an opportunity to visit with several coaches. He met with head coach Steve Spurrier, running back coach Everett Sands and defensive line coach Zeke Adams. “They were just telling me how much they want me to be a Gamecock,” said Scott. “They’re telling me that I’m the number one (running) back on their board and they would love to have me.” As for coach Adams, Scott said, “I think he is taking over my area,” which would make Adams Scott’s primary recruiter. Scott has plans to attend other junior days but has not scheduled any trips. He has nt time frame for a decision.
Clemson today offered RB Derrell Scott of Havelock, NC. He has been favoring USC.
Georgia today offered DE Bryson Alan-Williams of Ellenwood, GA. USC and Clemson also have offered and he’s been favoring USC.
Clemson Thursday offered WR Josh Malone of Gallatin, TN.
