USC announced today that senior point guard LaShay Page will not be back this season, thus ending a very short run on the Gamecock basketball team. According to the school, an academic issue is the reason for the abrupt end to his career.
Page transferred to USC from Southern Miss last summer. The Dillon native was averaging 11.7 points per game prior to the academic woes that sidelined him prior to the team’s game against Manhattan last month.
The Gamecocks play SC State tomorrow afternoon. Including Page, they will be without three key players. Freshman forward Michael Carrera is out with a hip injury and guard Bruce Ellington will sit out as he gets reacclimated to hoops from football.
