USC quarterback Connor Shaw underwent successful surgery on his injured left foot Friday. Shaw is expected to make a full recovery but in all likelihood he will miss spring practice recovering from the procedure.
Shaw suffered the foot injury in a win over Tennessee on October 27th. He tried to play through the pain but ended up tweaking it against Wofford and missed the final regular season game at Clemson. He felt better after taking some time off before the bowl game, but ended up coming out of the game a few times against Michigan when he tweaked it.
Shaw wasn’t the only Gamecock player to go under the knife. Redshirt freshman linebacker Cedrick Cooper had his left knee repaired. Cooper injured the knee during bowl practice last month. He too will miss spring practice but is expected to be ready for the preseason camp. Cooper is expected to be a factor for significant playing time next season because the Gamecocks are thin at linebacker.
