Disaster struck Clemson on two fronts on the first possession of the game. On the second play, the Tigers put Sammy Watkins in the backfield and he carried off left guard. He was hit and fumbled and LSU recovered at the Clemson 23. And Watkins injured his right ankle on the play and had to leave the game.
Two plays after the fumble, Jeremy Hill broke free around the right side and scored on a 17 yard run. LSU 7-0.
The Tigers answered with a 75 yard drive in 11 plays to tie the game with Tajh Boyd running in from 11 yards out for the score. Boyd completed a pair of passes to Nuk Hopkins for 29 yards to highlight the drive. 7-7.
