Tonight Kornblut was broadcasting live from Clyde Wrenn’s Myrtle Beach Sports Club at Damon’s Grill. Wrenn had plenty of special guests to speak to attendees, and two of those stopped by to speak to Phil for a couple of minutes to catch us up on what’s been going on with them. Former USC baseball great’s Michael Roth and Scott Wingo are in the midst of their off-seasons with the Angels and Dodgers, respectively, and told Korn how things are going.
AUDIO: Michael Roth & Scott Wingo [15:26]
Roth and Wingo cemented their names in USC lore during the Gamecocks’ run of back-to-back College World Series championships in 2010-2011, thanks to Roth’s big time outings on the mound, and Wingo’s clutch at-bats and play in the field. Tonight both caught us up on life in the minors, Roth’s secondary career in public speaking, and of course, they let us in on some things that took place behind-the-scenes during their magical run in Columbia.
