The dream of the first ever Top Ten showdown between USC and Clemson will have to wait for at least another season. With the rivals set to clash this Saturday at Death Valley, the Sunday polls do not include both of them in the Top 10. In fact, both dropped a spot in the AP ranking. Clemson went from 11th to 12th and USC from 12th to 13th. In the coaches’ poll, Clemson stayed at #9 while USC lost a spot to #12.
Notre Dame assumed the top spot in both polls and Alabama is #2 in each. Georgia is now third in both polls with Ohio State fourth by the AP and Oregon forth by the coaches. Ohio State is ineligible for the coaches’ poll. Oregon is 5th by the AP and Florida State is fifth by the coaches.
The BCS rankings will be released tonight with Notre Dame and Alabama expected to be ranked 1-2.
