2010-2011 Record: 19-14 (7-9)
For the first time in twenty-two years, Gary Williams will not be roaming the sidelines as Maryland’s basketball coach. That job now belongs to Mark Turgeon, who has the unfortunate task of replacing a man with 668 career wins. A trip back to the NCAA Tournament would be a good first step, The Terps hope they have found an immediate-impact player in 7’1” Ukrainian center Olexiy Len. Maryland will also need production from James Padgett, a junior forward who has yet to start a game for the Terrapins. In the backcourt, Maryland has 6’6” guard Nick Faust, a four-star recruit, waiting in the wings. Faust may break into the starting lineup at some point this year. Maryland will need to find a way to win the big games this year, as the Terrapins were winless versus ranked opponents last season.
