Long time USC commitment TE Kelvin Rainey of Yulee, FL will take an official visit to Arkansas. Rainey said the visit likely will take place the weekend the Gamecocks play in Fayetteville. “Arkansas is the only other school that’s still working me,” Rainey said. “My commitment (to USC) is 100%. They are still my favorite.” Rainey said his USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. plans to be at his school Monday. As for his season, Rainey said he’s got more yards rushing than receiving. He’s been playing tailback and some quarterback in the Wildcat, along with his regular position of tight end. He’s also playing safety on defense.
WR Quinshad Davis of Gaffney attended the Wake Forest game this weekend with the Deacons hosting Virginia Tech. “It wasn’t my first time there but it was my first game,” Davis said. “It went pretty good. I got to talk to some of the coaches and the players.” He is unsure of his next visit but did say he will be in Columbia when USC hosts Florida as well as Clemson. It will be his second Clemson game this season after taking in the Florida State contest earlier this year. “It went great because they won,” he joked. “I got to talk to some of the coaches and they’re telling me to be patient and let everything play itself out.” That is the attitude Davis is taking saying, “I’m not in any hurry right now. I want to focus on my season. I’m not even going to take any officials (visits) until after the season anyway.” USC has contacted Davis recently as well. He did not name a leader.
OL Brandon Smith (6-7 315) of Kernersville, NC visited Clemson this season for the Florida State and Boston College games. He’s also visited North Carolina. He also wants to visit Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Smith is also getting interest from Alabama, NC State, Maryland, Notre Dame and Michigan. He’s not yet been offered. Smith said Clemson is one he’s very interested in. “They are in my top group,” Smith said. “They seem interested in me. I’m still exploring things. I don’t want to be too quick on a decision.” Smith plays guard but is being recruited for tackle.
OL DeQuan Miller of AC Flora has offers from The Citadel, Wofford and Holy Cross. He’s also getting attention from Furman, Georgia Tech and Army.
The Citadel Friday landed a commitment from 6-6 Matt Van Scyoc of Green Lake, WI. Van Scyoc picked the Bulldogs over North Dakota, Illinois-Chicago and Nevada. Last season he averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. He’s the second commitment for the Bulldogs for the November signing period.
