Former Clemson and Citadel quarterback Willie “Shotgun” Simmons resigned Friday night from his position as offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Middle Tennessee State. The resignation comes in the wake of Simmon’s arrest on Wednesday on a suspicion of aggravated assault.
Simmons was named the offensive coordinator for the Blue Raiders by coach Rick Stockstill in January. He was in his fifth season as an assistant on the staff.
