Maryland started the second quarter with a 1st and goal from the Tigers five year line. The Terps lost two yards running the ball the first two plays, but they punched it in on third down on a seven yard pass from Brown to Meggett. After the extra point the Terps lead was 21-10 with 13:54.
After a Clemson punt and a solid return Maryland began its second possession of the half on its own 40. From there the Terps went 60 yards in seven plays and scored on a 21 yard quarterback keeper by C.J. Brown to go up 28-10 with 8:38 left in the half.
Tajh Boyd and the Tiger offense settled down a bit on its next drive. Using mostly passes, they went 70 yards in 10 plays to score to score a touchdown. The Tigers capped the drive with a six yard pass from Boyd to DeAndre Hopkins. That made the score 28-17 Terps with 5:28 left in the half.
Clemson forced Maryland to punt on the Terps next possession. The Maryland drive stalled on its own 41 yard line. After the punt Clemson took over on its own 14 with 3:45 left in the half.
Clemson moved the ball into Maryland territory on its next drive but was unable to get into scoring range and punted with less than two minutes to play.
Maryland took over on its own 20 with 1:15 left and ran out the clock to go into the half with the 11 point lead.
