It’s been a month of home cooking and sleeping in their own best for the Clemson Tigers. This Saturday they will play away from the friendly confines of Death Valley for the first time. And the Tigers will be stepping into one of the most hostile environments in the country in Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium. The Hokies have lost just 31 times at home under Frank Beamer.
Virginia Tech features a balanced offense averaging 430 yards per game. Running back David Wilson is the nation’s 7th leading rusher at 129 yards per game. Clemson is giving up 175 yards per game on the ground though the Tigers held Florida State to just 29 rushing yards last Saturday.
For two of the Tigers, the trip to Blacksburg will be a return to their home state…defensive end Andre Branch and quarterback Tajh Boyd.
Boyd is 12th in the nation in passing efficiency and 10th in total offense. He leads the ACC in total offense at 350 yards per game.
