In case you didn’t hear about it here is the back story: Former Clemson scrub quarterback Tribble Reese was in Tiger Town Saturday for the Wofford game. Like 96.789% of Americans, Reese currently has his own reality television show. So Reese and his entourage from his CMT reality show decided they would lead Tiger Walk before the game. This didn’t sit well with some Clemson fans. Some thought it was disrespectful for Reese to lead Tiger Walk on Military Appreciation Day. To them this was a slap in the face of the Clemson nation, the military and the United States of America.
The Clemson athletic department issued the following statement Monday:
“The Clemson Athletic department apologizes to anyone in the Clemson family who was offended by people connected with a CMT program who walked among our football coaches and players during Tiger Walk prior to the Wofford game.
“While Coach (Dabo) Swinney knew the crew (which included former Clemson quarterback Tribble Reese) was on campus, he did not give his approval for them to take part in Tiger Walk.
“Tiger Walk is a relatively new tradition, but one that we cherish. This will not happen again.”
Just think what the reaction would have been if Will Proctor pulled this stunt? Okay, we can move on with our lives now.
