Wofford men’s basketball coach Mike Young has announced the schedule for the 2011-12 season. The schedule for the back-to-back defending Southern Conference champions includes games against South Carolina, Wake Forest and Georgia, along with the Chicago Invitational Challenge and an ESPN BracketBusters game in February.
Wofford will play 18 league games this season. The Terriers will have home-and-home series with South Division Teams, plus home-and-home games with Western Carolina and Appalachian State in the North Division. Wofford will play Samford, Chattanooga, UNC Greensboro and Elon from the North Division only once this season.
The Terriers tip off the season on November 11 with a visit to Georgia. The home opener will be on November 13 against Emory and Henry. Next up will be the Chicago Invitational Challenge. First round games will be played at Wisconsin and at Bradley before playing two games at the Sears Arena against either UMKC, Prairie View A&M, or Longwood.
Wofford opens the Southern Conference slate on December 1 when the Terriers host Davidson. On December 3, Wofford travels to The Citadel. After a visit to Tulane on December 6, the Terriers will host UVa.-Wise and Jacksonville University at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
On December 21, Wofford will travel to High Point and on December 28 the Terriers will play at South Carolina. A trip to Wake Forest on January 2 completes the early part of the schedule.
The Southern Conference schedule gets into full swing on January 5 against the College of Charleston. A total of nine conference games make up the slate in January, with four of the games at home. Following five more SoCon games in February, the team will step away from conference play on February 18 to take part in the ESPN BracketBusters event. An opponent will be announced in late January for this home contest. After a trip to UNC Greensboro on February 21, the regular season concludes on February 25 against Furman.
The Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin on March 2 in Asheville, with the championship game slated for March 5.
