Former USC pitcher Ethan Carter, who spent this past season at Louisburg JC in North Carolina, is returning to USC this fall. Carter told TheBigSpur.com he is coming back to Columbia this weekend to enroll in school. He will be a junior next season.
Carter, a righthander, pitched as a freshman for the Gamecocks in 2010. He appeared in 24 games and was 3-0 with a 5.46 ERA. One of is wins was over Coastal Carolina in the Super Regional.
Carter was dismissed from the team in January for a violation of team rules and transferred to the junior college. This season he was 9-3 with a 1.75 ERA. Carter struck out 78 in 77 innings and walked just nine. He was named the Region Pitcher of the Year.
