USC football coach Steve Spurrier said last Thursday when asked a question about suspended quarterback Stephen Garcia’s status that he would be better able to answer that on August 1st. Well, that answer apparently is a lifting of the suspension.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Garcia will be fully reinstated to the team Monday after meeting the requirements set for him by Spurrier, athletic director Eric Hyman and university president Harris Pastides.
Garcia will go into pre-season practice as the #1 quarterback though Spurrier has said he plans to give sophomore Connor Shaw a good look early in practice.
The Gamecocks will practice for the first time Wednesday night at 7:30. That practice will be open to the public. The others, as of now, are closed.
