USC football coach Steve Spurrier said at SEC Media Days Wednesday that suspended safety DeVonte Holloman was back working out with the team though he was on suspension after being arrested earlier in the month on a DUI charge. USC’s stated policy is suspended players can’t participate with their team until the suspension is lifted.
When asked Thursday to get a clarification on Holloman’s status, USC sports information director Steve Fink said in an e-mail Holloman had met with athletics director Eric Hyman and was allowed to resume team activities. In response to a follow up e-mail, Fink could not say if this meant the suspension has been lifted.
Holloman had his first court appearance this past Monday at which time he requested a jury trial. A trial date has not been set.
