OL Joe Harris of Lithonia, GA will announce his college decision next Wednesday during a pre-season media day for DeKalb County teams. Harris said USC, Mississippi State, Alabama and Georgia remain on his list. He is going to try to visit USC this week for its camp and is also going to try to get to Mississippi State before his announcement. Harris has said previously USC was out front and at one point earlier this month it looked like he was going to announce for USC. Wednesday, he wasn’t ready to call the Gamecocks clear leaders. “I wouldn’t say that,” Harris said. “I’m still debating all four.” USC is recruiting Harris as a guard.
QB Greyson Lambert of Jesup, GA has spent the last several days visiting schools across the Southeast. Two schools omitted from the trip were USC and Clemson. “I’ve been to Clemson several times but they’ve gotten their quarterback,” Lambert said speaking of QB Chad Kelly. “When I was putting my trip together, I was thinking of going to South Carolina but they got a commitment (QB Brendon Nosovitch) recently as well. Both schools told me they were only recruiting one quarterback.” Each school had offered Lambert. His trip has taken him to Arkansas, LSU, Alabama and Tennessee. He heads to Virginia on July 30th and Florida State after that. Of these schools, Alabama and Virginia have offered. Lambert does not have any favorites and wants to wait until after he has completed his summer tour before narrowing his list.
ATH Marty Williams (6-2 210) of Fox Creek camped at Georgia Tech over the weekend as the Yellow Jackets tested him out at quarterback. “They wanted to see me throw the ball around,” Williams said. “It went great. They said they were going to get in touch with my coach and have me tickets for some games.” Williams’ next stop will be at Florida for Friday Night Lights at the end of the week. Earlier in the summer, he made it to Clemson for a camp and enjoyed his time. “It ws pretty cool,” he said. “I got to talk to coach (Dabo) Swinney and coach (Charlie) Harbison. I had a good time.” His offers include Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, East Carolina and Miami. Williams had previously stated that his top three were Clemson, Florida and Miami.
The USC baseball team has landed a commitment from INF George Iskendarian (6-2 190) of Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Iskendarian attends Don Boscoe Prep. He is considered a national level recruit for the 2012 class and a player who could be a very early pick in next summer’s draft. He had originally committed to Maryland.
One of Clemson’s baseball signees for 2011 is two sport star Mike Triller of Rutland, VT. Triller was one of the leading hitters in his state this past season with a .528 batting average. Triller also was a receiver on the football team catching 37 passes for 630 yards. He was selected for the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, an all star game pitting standouts from Vermont against stars from Massachusetts. Triller withdrew from the game which comes up later this summer so he could focus on getting ready to play baseball at Clemson.
