July should be called “college football watch list month” because they release a ton of them over the next few weeks. The good news is almost all of these list include at least one player from the state has been on the list. That includes the Ray Guy Award watch list, which includes Clemson’s Dawson Zimmerman.
Zimmerman was also a semifinalist for the award last year.
Joining him on the this year’s list are Bryan Anger of California, Drew Butler of Georgia, Kyle Martens of Rice, and Quinn Sharp of Oklahoma State.
Zimmerman averaged 42.7 yards per punt last year, including a 40.6 net average. His net figure was fourth best in Clemson history and best by any Clemson punter since 1984 (Dale Hatcher). For his career he has 15 punts of 50 yards or more, including two punts of at least 76 yards. His 79 yard punt against North Texas last year was the second longest in school history.
