The USC basketball team hasn’t been able to catch a break these days. Malik Cooke dislocated his right ankle in a pickup game last month and is going to miss the next two to three months recovering. Cooke is the only senior on the team and with the departures of Bruce Ellington and Ramon Galloway he is also the leading returning scorer.
Cooke averaged 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season. The good news is he should be back in time for the start of the season. The same goes for junior Lakeem Jackson. Jackson missed part of last season because of foot and ankle issues. He had offseason surgery and is currently wearing a walking boot but should be ready to return the court in plenty of time for the start of the season.
