Gov. Nikki Haley has a lot of faith in the USC baseball team. Here is a release from her Press Secretary:
Confident that the Gamecocks are poised to bring home a second straight national title, Gov. Nikki Haley placed a friendly wager with Gov. Rick Scott of Florida on the College World Series NCAA baseball championship. The best-of-three game series starts tonight when the University of South Carolina takes on the University of Florida at 8:00 PM ET.
“We’re a state – and I’m a governor – that doesn’t like to lose,” said Gov. Haley. “So, today, I called my good friend Gov. Scott, talked a little smack, and told him that I’d bet him a barbecue dinner from Hudson’s Smokehouse in Lexington that the Gamecocks would bring home the national title to Columbia. He took me up on the bet.”
Gov. Scott bet Key Lime Pie from Kermit’s Key West Key Lime Shoppe that the Gators would win.
Gov. Haley said, “The Gamecocks’ baseball team represents the very best in our state, and its postseason run is something for every South Carolinian to get excited about. We’re proud of them and wish them the very best in Omaha.”
