Some of our calls on SportsTalk are better than others and some are just, well, crazy. That was the case with “Russ in Rock Hill” who called the show last night. Russ was unhappy about Korn sharing his opinion that USC does not do enough to take care of its former black athletes. The latest example he cited was BJ McKie not getting the job at USC he wanted and instead landing at Charleston Southern.
Anyway, ole Russ called in and asked Korn: “how many African Americans do you have working for you? He then answered his own question by shouting “None!”
Tom Hayes, A.K.A. “the Pro”, politely pointed out to Russ that he was in fact an African American to which Russ responded “No you’re not!”
At that point we said good-bye to Russ and moved along.
But Russ wasn’t finished. This morning he sent this lovely note which has been edited to take out the profane and homophobic language, but other than that is printed just the way Russell Belcher wrote it:
Well you EDIT are the biggest hypocrites there are in this world. Easy to cut someone off if you don’t agree with them. That is why the internet is such a great tool. The freedom of the press is so good, but it goes not only to the media but to the other parts of the population as well. K Mac you should take your sorry ass and go back to that EDIT state of California where you came from. Phil you must give Jerome a EDIT every night because every time he calls you give this big intro like he is your EDIT brother.
In short go to hell.
Hey, Russell, we gave you 59 seconds of air time. How much more did you want? You should be upset at us for not cutting you SOONER. Then we could have saved you the embarrassment.
Also Russ, you are right; the Internet is a great tool. So great in fact that I found you on Facebook. I noticed you have 118 friends. I find that to be astonishing.
Oh, thanks for listening.
