Scott Wingo is no stranger to big hits. Counting Sunday night’s game winning single he has four game clinching hits this season. The senior second baseman has made a habit of delivering in the clutch throughout his career. There is a reason he is known as “walk-off Wingo” among Gamecock fans.
Here is the recap of Wingo’s latest heroics: He stepped up with the bases loaded and no one out in the 9th inning of a 4-4 tie with Texas A&M Sunday night. The Aggies has moved one of their outfielders into the infield and had all five players crowding the grass. Wingo fell behind in the count before pounding a ball to deep right to score Robert Beary and put the Gamecocks in the winner’s bracket.
