QB Chad Kelly of Buffalo has trimmed his list to a final seven as he looks to make a decision this summer. Kelly has Clemson, Florida State, Alabama, Purdue, Michigan State, Syracuse and Buffalo as his final seven. He has visited Clemson, Florida State, Syracuse, Buffalo, Michigan State and Purdue. He has plans to visit Alabama and Florida State in June. Kelly is not identifying a single leader.
QB Cyler Miles of Denver, who has a Clemson offer, has narrowed his list to Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Tennessee and Washington.
OL Mark Harrell of Charlotte committed to Notre Dame Thursday night. Harrell had offers from Clemson and USC among others. He had visited Clemson and USC and had them among his favorites.
Dillon WR Kwinton Smith (6-5 195) was offered Thursday by Florida. He’s also picked up recent offers from Virginia Tech and LSU. Smith also holds offers from Wake Forest, NC State, Notre Dame, Auburn, East Carolina and Minnesota. Clemson and USC are evaluating Smith. Clemson recruiter Kevin Steele is to be in Dillon, his hometown, Saturday. USC recruiter Shawn Elliott was in last week. LSU recruiter John Chavis, also a Dillon native, will also be in town Saturday. Smith is also a baseball prospect and batted .475 with 6 home runs this season. He has no favorites.
RB Keith Marshall (5-11 190) of Raleigh has offers from around the country including USC, Clemson, North Carolina, NC State, Michigan, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Virginia Tech and Southern Cal. He does not have a favorite but says, “I’ve put out a list of 12,” when asked if he had narrowed his list. He could not remember all of the schools on the list but did name USC, Clemson, Florida, FSU, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama and Auburn. “I like USC a lot,” Marshall said. “I really like coach (Jay) Graham. I like Clemson too. I want to see what they do this year.” Marshall has visited USC, Auburn, Florida, FSU, UNC and Georgia this spring. As for summer visits, “I can’t take any because I run track (this summer),” he said. Marshall plans to take all five official visits before committing and is unsure of which schools will receive those visits.
LB Adam Ah Ching (6-0 220) of Greer added Georgia Tech to his offer sheet. His other offers are from BYU, Utah, Oregon and Colorado. He is hearing from Clemson and USC. “I talked to Levon Kirkland and he told me he likes the way I play downhill,” Ah Ching said. “They want me to come down this summer for a visit.” Ah Ching plans to visit Clemson in mid-June. USC was in for a visit last Monday and Ah Ching spoke with them. “They told me they liked me and would call me in the next two weeks,” he said. Ah Ching indicated that he has interest in Clemson and USC. His top three schools are BYU, Utah and Oregon in that order. He will visit LSU, Notre Dame and Tennessee this July.
ATH Jalen Holt (6-4 220) of Norwood, NC is expecting Clemson to stop by his school next week for a visit. “Clemson and Virginia Tech are coming by to see me,” Holt said. He has received visits from Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Appalachian State during spring practice. Holt is waiting for his first offer and continues to hear from each of these schools as well as Tennessee and East Carolina. “A lot of schools want to see me at their camp before they offer,” he said. He is planning to camp at Duke and NC State this summer. Other camps he could attend include Clemson. He does not have a favorite.
Duke has been a favorite of DE Keilin Rayner of Leland, NC and still is, but the Blue Devils have company now. USC defensive line coach Brad Lawing offered Rayner Thursday and the Gamecocks have pulled even with the Blue Devils on Rayner’s favorites list. “I like the SEC because it’s on top,” Rayner said. “South Carolina would be my second leader because it’s in the SEC. I like the Duke coaching staff and their new facility.” Rayner also has offers from Clemson, East Carolina and NC State. He’s also hearing from Auburn, Tennessee, Maryland and Wake Forest. Rayner said he talks regularly with Clemson recruiters Kevin Steele and Dan Brooks. And he plans to visit USC this summer.
WR Cordarrelle Patterson of Hutchinson JC, KS is visiting Oklahoma State Friday. He does not have any other visits planned but when he comes home to Rock Hill in July he is expecting to visit USC. He has offers from Tennessee, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Arkansas.
DB Devon Miller (5-9 165) of Riverdale, GA picked up an offer from Appalachian State Tuesday. “They came to watch me practice and offered on the spot,” Miller said. Miller’s first offer was from USC. “I haven’t really heard from them in a while,” Miller admitted. Other schools showing interest are Wofford, Charleston Southern, Indiana, Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern. Miller was at the Tennessee spring game and was pleased with the trip. “It went good,” he said. “I got to meet with the coaches and stuff. They want me to come up for a camp this summer.” Other camps he could attend include USC, Wofford, Charleston Southern, Georgia Southern and Appalachian State. He does not have a favorite.
QB Patton Robinette of Maryville, TN has added an offer from Northwestern. He also has offers from Purdue, Memphis, Vanderbilt and Arkansas State. Clemson has shown some interest.
South Aiken DL Josh Brown picked up his first offer from VMI. He’s drawing interest from USC, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Duke, Illinois, NC State, Oregon, Newberry, Charleston Southern, The Citadel and Ball State.
Ridgeland DL Wesley Scott has offers from Miami of Ohio, SC State and Newberry. He’s also getting interest from USC, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee, NC State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Georgia Southern, The Citadel and UCLA.
Ridgeland ATH Torray Amlett has been offered by SC State. He’s also hearing from Clemson, Maryland, Miami of Ohio, Georgia Southern, Newberry, Georgia Tech and Nebraska.
DB Marquise Jones of Eau Claire has offers from Duke and Vanderbilt. He’s also getting interest from Clemson, USC, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Notre Dame, Miami of Ohio, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, Army, Illinois, Connecticut and NC State.
DB Marquise Boyan of Eau Claire has been offered by Furman. He’s also drawing interest from Marshall, NC Central, SC State, Army, The Citadel, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and Charleston Southern.
Timberland DB Daquan Lucas (5-11 185) has been offered by Marshall.
Timberland DE James Middleton (6-4 245) has drawn interest from Clemson and Miami of Ohio.
USC commitment Nick Ciuffo, a catcher from Wando, could end up at Lexington next year. Ciuffo, who is entering the 11th grade, is waiting on his mother possibly taking a new job in Lexington
6-4 junior Travis Hammonds of Richland Northeast has offers from The Citadel and The College of Charleston.
