After more than a two hour rain delay the fourth ranked USC baseball team fell to Arkansas 6-2 at Carolina Stadium.
A late evening thunderstorm pushed the start time back until 10:06 P.M. and the game didn’t end until about a quarter after one Saturday morning.
The Gamecocks committed five errors in what was easily their sloppiest game of the season. Michael Roth took the loss on the mound. He gave didn’t make it out of the sixth inning and allowed three runs on 10 hits. One of those runs was unearned. It is just the second loss of the season for Roth as he falls to 10-2.
The Gamecocks drop to 39-11 on the season and 18-7 in the SEC. They have dropped three conference games in a row.
Game two is at 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Forrest Koumas will get the start on the mound for the Gamecocks. The game will be televised on Sports South.
