RB Keith Marshall of Raleigh has narrowed his long list of about 30 offers to a shorter list that he will focus on. Making the cut were USC, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Stanford and Southern Cal. He does not have favorites from his list.
DE Jonathan Bullard (6-4 245) of Shelby, NC has offers from Clemson, USC, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Nebraska, Alabama, North Carolina, and NC State among others. “He has offers from just about everybody he is interested in,” said coach Mark Barnes. “He’s as good as anyone I have ever coached.” Barnes says Bullard is looking at schools closer to home. “I think distance to his home is going to be a factor with him,” he said. “He is looking at ACC and SEC schools mostly.” Bullard has taken several visits to Clemson and USC and is familiar with both programs. Barnes says Bullard could likely commit before his senior season. “I think he’ll take a lot of visits this summer,” he said. “I don’t think he will be a late commitment.” According to Barnes, Bullard does not have a favorite.
LB Nick Dawson of Charlotte has not finalized a decision his assistant coach John Simmons said Monday night. Dawson visited Clemson last Friday when teammate Germone Hopper committed to the Tigers. He considered doing the same but decided, at his father’s urging, to hold off thru the weekend. Simmons had indicated Friday Dawson might follow suit on Monday but Dawson wants more time. “He’s going to go thru the process and enjoy everything,” Simmons said. “Clemson is definitely his leader. He talked to them Sunday and told them he’s going to wait a little bit. They definitely want him.” Simmons said Dawson might be back at Clemson Saturday for the spring game. North Carolina called about him Monday. Simmons said Louisville is second on Dawson’s list with Miami third. Dawson is a native of Louisville and his father still resides there.
DB Trevon Stewart (5-10 190) of Patterson, LA has offers from Southern Miss, Houston, and Memphis and is hearing from Clemson, LSU, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Pitt, and Colorado. “Growing up, I was always a fan of Arkansas, Clemson, and LSU,” Stewart said. “I always liked Clemson. I don’t know why. I never thought they would be interested in me. I am very interested in them.” Stewart says he would like to visit Clemson in the future. He will visit Arkansas on April 16th and has plans to visit Auburn and Nebraska. He has been to Southern Miss and Houston several times. Stewart has played several positions. As a safety last season, he had over 100 tackles, 63 solo, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He does not have a favorite.
Former Tennessee signee 6-4 Kevin Ware of Conyers, GA has USC on the short list of schools he is now considering according to Jerry Meyer of Rivals.com. The rest of the list is made up of UCLA, Louisville, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Central Florida, Georgetown and Virginia. Ware plans to spend some time studying the rosters of these programs and will begin to meet with coaches in the middle of April. Ware was granted his release from Tennessee after Bruce Pearl was fired.
