USC signee DE Jadeveon Clowney of South Pointe remains on track to qualify according to a source familiar with his situation. The source said if Clowney scores above average on three of the remaining core courses he is taking, he has a high enough test score to give him the NCAA qualifying combination of GPA and test score.
OL Frank Taylor (6-3 285) of Warminster, PA has offers from West Virginia, Purdue, Temple, Rutgers, Boston College, Pitt, Michigan State, and Illinois. He is hearing from USC, Oregon, Wisconsin, Virginia, Stanford, Northwestern, Penn State, Southern Cal, Duke, Notre Dame, Connecticut, and Villanova. “I’ve gotten some letters from South Carolina,” said Taylor. “I’ve been trying to get a hold of them. I like Clemson and South Carolina because they’re very good programs and somewhere I would like to play.” Taylor has taken visits to Notre Dame, BC, and Rutgers and is planning a return trip to Boston College. Taylor has not visited the state of South Carolina but is interested in visiting both Clemson and USC. He does not have a favorite.
Ninety Six OL Oliver Jones (6-6 305) has been to Clemson, Georgia and USC and will visit North Carolina this coming Saturday. He is also considering visiting USC this week to watch a spring practice. He also plans to go back to Clemson and Georgia to watch a spring practice. Alabama might also get a visit. USC and Clemson remain his only offers right now. And he said there is no favorite. “I’m just trying to enjoy it,” Jones said. “I’m waiting on more offers to make a better decision.” And more offers are likely after recruiters watch him this season. Jones missed all of last season with injuries. As for his feelings on Clemson and USC right now, Jones said he has no favorite between them.
TE Colin Thompson (6-5 250) of Warminster, PA has 19 offers that include USC, Florida, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Illinois, Alabama, Penn State, Boston College, Stanford, Wisconsin, Rutgers, and Pitt. He says USC is in his top ten. “They run a good offense and are known for big tight ends,” said Thompson. “Of course they have (Steve) Spurrier and I’ve talked to coach (G.A.) Mangus a couple of times. I really like him.” He has been to Notre Dame for their junior day and taken an unofficial visit to Florida. “I am going to go back down to Florida with my family for their spring game or around that time,” he said. He is going to Wisconsin on April 16th and is planning trips to Alabama and Stanford. Thompson says he wants to visit USC as well. “I don’t know what my schedule is going to be but I’m sure I’ll work it out to get down there,” he added. He does not have a favorite.
