From The Citadel Sports Information:
The Blue team dominated the White team, 14-3, in The Citadel Football’s annual Blue-White Game held at Johnson Hagood Stadium on Saturday, March 19. Approximately 1,000 fans enjoyed the Bulldog action in 80-degree temperatures as The Citadel wrapped up the 2011 spring season.
The White squad, led by second-team quarterback Matt Thompson, was the first to score as kicker Thomas Warren connected on a 32-yard field goal. However, that would be their only chance to score as the Blue team defense kept them out of the red zone for the entire game, holding them to 191 total yards. Blue team defensive back Joseph Boateng recorded two interceptions, while three players (Tolu Akindele, Derek Douglas, Quintin Turner) recorded a sack each for a total loss of 19 yards.
The White team scored for the first time late in the second quarter when walk-on running back Shaun Middleton capped off a series of solid rushes with a 1-yard TD with 1:07 left in the first half. Ryan Sellers’ extra point attempt was good and the Blue team went up, 7-3. The second score came at 11:47 in the third quarter with another 1-yard run, this time by running back Terrell Dallas after he put the team in scoring distance with a 61-yard run earlier in the drive. The Blue team offense, led by starting quarterback Ben Dupree, totaled 239 yards, including 213 yards on the ground.
Thompson concluded the game with 5-of-12 completions and two interceptions for 48 yards, while Dupree went 3-for-7 with no interceptions and 44 yards. Dallas led both teams with nine carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, while Middleton added 16 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown for the Blue team. Fullback Darien Robinson led the White team with 17 carries for 68 yards.
The Bulldogs will report for fall camp on Aug. 4 and kickoff the 2011 season on Sept. 3 against Jacksonville at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
